Zena joined the Hey Sonny team in 2018, working as a Shooting Researcher on the CBBC My Life film If I Go Blind before swiftly becoming our in house Assistant Producer.
In her current role as Assistant Producer, Zena has worked on our Channel 5 series The House of Extraordinary People and a forthcoming RTS winning documentary Gemma: My Murder for BBC Three. Zena is currently the Assistant Producer on our CBBC My Life.
Prior to joining the Hey Sonny family, Zena held a variety of creative industry positions. Most recently as Head of Video at a Sheffield marketing agency; producing video campaigns for high profile public sector clients and managing a team of videographers and animators. Before that Zena gained a large proportion of her industry experience on the sidelines working as Deputy Editor of international filmmaking magazine Pro Moviemaker – interviewing directors and cinematographers and testing out the latest camera gear.
Living in the beautiful Peak District, Zena now works out of our nearby Sheffield office and puts her journalistic background to good use across production and development. Passionate about storytelling, Zena is one of the shooters at Hey Sonny and prides herself on her ability to make lasting relationships with contributors. At the weekend she’ll invariably be found climbing, biking or hiking something. That, and watching Gilmore Girls on repeat.
